Over the past 20 years, my passion for good businesses, good brands, and (most importantly) good people has taken many forms. I'm a consultant and coach to small business owners, a professional speaker and educator, a designer and copywriter, and an entrepreneur myself. And I love doing all of it.
I feel privileged to have worked with individuals and companies in a variety of industries: wedding and event planning, graphic design and branding, photography, entertainment, fashion and beauty, food and beverage, real estate sales and development, health and wellness, and many more. I've helped them develop brand identities and business plans, create sparkling website copy and social content, develop team training and retention programs, and feel more energized about and connected with their mission than ever.
In addition to my consulting and contract projects, I've recently returned to the workforce as part of the executive leadership team for Keller Williams Integrity, part of the most innovative real estate company in the world. In my capacity there, I'm fully immersed in many of the business elements I love most: identifying, recruiting and onboarding new talent; planning and implementing training programs; and providing retention-focused services that support associates' professional and personal growth and success. I couldn't imagine loving my work more (and I'm happy to say that Keller Williams currently has over 800 independently-owned market centers around the world - so if you're interested in a career in real estate, please contact me!).
I also own a successful midsize business in the Washington, DC market. My wedding entertainment company, MyDeejay, has operated in the DC market since 2003, and has earned virtually every accolade in the wedding industry:
- Washingtonian Bride & Groom, "Best Wedding Vendor 2006-2017"
- Washingtonian Bride & Groom "Top Vote Getter 2016, 2013, 2012" and "Editor's Pick 2015, 2011"
- The Knot "Best of Weddings Pick 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017"
- WeddingWire, "Couple's Choice Award 2009-2016"

MyDeejay offers the exclusive services of 9 professional disc jockeys, and has amassed well over 800 outstanding online reviews on sites such as WeddingWire (where we maintain a perfect five-star average rating), The Knot, WeddingMapper and Yelp.
In addition to my business ventures, I'm also an enthusiastic and engaging public speaker and have appeared at numerous professional conferences, seminars and workshops. My recent speaking engagements include events and conferences for WeddingWire, the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE), the Association of Wedding Professionals (AWP), the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), Book More Brides, the Cultivate Retreat, the Intrigued Experience, and more. In March 2017, I will be a featured speaker for Mobile Beat Las Vegas, the most dynamic and influential DJ convention in the world.
For the past several years, I've been featured as a WeddingWire Education Expert, contributing regularly to the site's Education Center and ProBlog, and am one of WeddingWire's WeddingAces, providing blog content to engaged couples. I'm also a featured contributor for Mobile Beat, providing business-related content for mobile DJs. My writing has been published on a number of popular blogs including United With Love, Bayside Bride, Heart of Frederick, Illuminate, and About.com, a New York Times company. I've also been featured on sites such as Forbes, FastCompany, Rescue a CEO, MyCorporation, Sage Wedding Pros, VOWS, District Weddings, Bridal Bubbly, The Belvedere Bride, and You're Cordially Invited, and on the podcasts Today's Leading Women, Owner's Toolbox, and SweetProcess. BizPeake Journal profiled me as one of their "MVPs" (Mavericks, Visionaries, Pioneers) in their October/November 2015 issue. Washingtonian Bride & Groom Magazine interviewed me in their "Ask the Experts" feature in each of their 2015 print issues. Special Events Magazine included me on their list of "30 Under 40: Event Professionals Worth Watching" in their July/August 2012 issue.
I'm a strong believer in building relationships with other event professionals, and served for several years as the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis host for Thursday Therapy, a networking concept for wedding business owners created by Sage Wedding Pros. I've also served as the Media/PR Chair for the Washington, DC chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding. I'm an active community volunteer, having contributed time to organizations that include Voices for Children (CASA), Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, The Little Things for Cancer, House of Ruth, Golden Hat Foundation and National Autism Association.
I hold a degree in communications and writing from Frostburg State University and currently reside near Annapolis, Maryland, with my two amazing little boys.
